Let’s Talk Solutions!

Pam Bertani has demonstrated the passion, courage, professionalism, skill, and vision to take Fairfield to the next level.  Under Pam’s next-level leadership, Fairfield will become what we all know this City has the potential to become – a *Destination City* with a robust Downtown, top-quality shopping, dining, and entertainment venues, increased access to affordable housing, more diverse and plentiful job opportunities, and safe communities where we live, work and play.

DESTINATION FAIRFIELD – SEVEN POINTS OF LIGHT!

  • Zero Tolerance Focus – For A Reason. The City of Fairfield cares deeply for all of our residents – that’s a matter of fact. Allowing – even facilitating – people living on the streets is unconscionable, unsustainable, unrealistic, and a public health and public safety disaster waiting to happen. Under Pam’s leadership and together with the City Council, last year we successfully referred 165 individuals to emergency shelters and surrounding support services - and we look to other Solano County cities to do likewise for their homeless residents. What we will not do is encourage individuals to live on our streets – that’s not fair to anyone involved. Moving forward, Pam will continue supporting the development of a new Navigation Center at 310 Beck Avenue to increase service capacity for homeless residents, and work closely with other strategic community partners to increase shelter capacity and access to available services and programming.

  • Essential To Reducing Homelessness. A key part of addressing homelessness in our community is providing viable housing options – so that people don’t need to live on our streets. Someone once said that home is where the heart is. We can and must continue leading the way to address California’s affordable housing crisis – providing viable housing options for folks looking to bring their hearts and families to Fairfield homes. Under Pam’s leadership and together with the City Council, we have completed construction at Fairhaven Commons (Sunset Avenue) and all 72 units are leased! This project supports critically homeless individuals and low-income families. Construction at Parkside Flats (Woolner and Gregory) is currently underway and will provide an additional 168 affordable rental units when the project is complete. In addition, Pam worked hand-in-hand with Mission Samoa to complete the Pallet Shelter Project at 1200 Western Street, which opened in the Fall of 2023 and is currently increasing homeless shelter capacity. We also have three single-family Habitat For Humanity affordable homes currently under construction. Under Pam’s continued leadership, expect even more!

  • #Destination Fairfield! Pam grew up in Oakland and clearly remembers the day when Emeryville, California was like a ghost town – with no viable commerce, and very little desirable housing options. Today, Emeryville is Destination City – both commercially and residentially. Far too many Fairfield residents leave this City – with their disposable income – to shop in Vacaville, Sacramento, Walnut Creek, Emeryville, and other Bay Area Cities. This is why Pam has been instrumental in developing and implementing the Heart of Fairfield Specific Plan, which is transforming Downtown Fairfield into a distinct destination! Last year we demolished the 1100 block of Texas Street in preparation for a redevelopment project comprising mixed-use housing and commercial establishments. This project paves the way for continuing to implement the Heart of Fairfield vision - so that many more of our residents shop, dine and entertain right here in the heart of our beautiful City! See more at www.fairfield.ca.gov/hofplan.

  • #Destination Fairfield! Supporting and embracing the Suisun Valley Strategic Plan – and our robust winery community - is imperative. Suisun Valley is simply amazing! The Suisun Valley vintners have done a tremendous job at branding this region as a *destination* - to which individuals and families travel from both near and far – to enjoy the lovely landscapes, high quality dining venues, and top-notch live entertainment. In addition to the provision of world-class wines, dining venues and entertainment experiences, Suisun Valley agriculture produces over $20 million in annual sales – the Valley is celebrated for producing delicious farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as nuts, legumes and flowers. Under Pam’s next level leadership, we will continue to support the Suisun Valley Strategic Plan - and Suisun Valley will continue to thrive and flourish as a burgeoning Northern California destination!

  • Community Matters! Fairfield CAN is a collaborative working group comprising local churches and other members of the faith community, strategic non-profit community partners, Travis Air Force Base and the City of Fairfield. CAN plans and executes creative programming to serve and support our community, including the first annual Fairfield Juneteenth Festival, the Travis Air Force Base Open House for the Solano County faith community, and sit-down, hot Thanksgiving meals for the entire community (including live entertainment and the provision of clothing and onsite services). Together with the invaluable contributions and leadership of strategic community partners, Pam established Fairfield CAN in 2020 as an expression and extension of her faith. ONWARD WE GO!

  • People Support What They Help To Create! Under her leadership, Pam will advocate to commission The Fairfield Beauty Initiative (“FBI”) – a project to both enhance and restore Fairfield’s natural, scenic beauty – in every neighborhood in this City. The FBI Commission will comprise a group of talented residents working alongside City Staff, to devise and execute realistic and sustainable strategies to beautify our City. Our residents will take pride in – and our visitors will take notice of – pristine and inviting Fairfield landscapes, venues, and neighborhoods – making Fairfield a *destination* of choice not only for our residents, but also for visitors traveling along the I-80 corridor. This is a matter of Fairfield pride – under Pam’s leadership – working together with you – we will bring the Destination Fairfield strategy into full fruition – continuing to move Fairfield toward the destination City where we all live, work, shop, and play – together – in safe, beautiful communities flourishing with robust commerce, and an authentic sense of community. #DestinationFairfield!

  • *Your* Voice Matters The Most! Robust community engagement – it all starts with you! The most important attribute of our democracy – is your participation in it. As the Vice Mayor, Pam has established a demonstrable track record comprising community outreach, including in-depth Town Hall Meetings on topics ranging from Landscape Lighting and Maintenance Districts (“LLMDs”) to Rolling Hills neighborhood Peafowl Management to community safety. Pam hears and responds to your concerns. That will not change under Pam’s next level leadership moving forward – and that’s a fact! As Vice-Mayor and together with her colleagues, Pam also championed and participated in “Listening Tour” community meetings in all six Fairfield voting districts between March and September 2023. During the Listening Tour meetings, our City Councilmembers, the City Manager and Department Heads provided you (our bosses) with a forum to voice concerns, express opinions and most importantly - to solve problems - in real time. Some of the Listening Tour meetings were recorded and are accessible at www.fairfield.ca.gov/listen. More to come!

Pam has a plan to move Fairfield forward – to its destiny!  She calls that plan The Seven Points of LightThe Plan is summarized below:
